Program Facilitator:
KATIE HIRSCHBOECK, PH.D is a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Parish, Tucson Arizona and is also an emeritus faculty in the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research at the University of Arizona. She conceived and developed The Circle of Life Journey Program in 2007 with members of the Core Committee of the parish’s Christian Life Commission, which Katie chaired from 2006 - 2016. The parish's Consistent Ethic of Life Committee emerged in response to the Circle of Life Program.
A JustFaith graduate and co-facilitator, Katie is passionate about Catholic Social Teaching and Respect Life issues. She is also a national Catholic Climate Ambassador for the Catholic Climate Covenant which supports and complements the work of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development and its Environmental Justice Program.
Katie currently is the Chair of
Our Mother of Sorrow's Consistent Ethic of Life Committee. She sees the issues of respect for
life and care for our common home as intertwined and vital to the call to live her Catholic faith
and share the wisdom and motivation found in Catholic Social Teaching and its Consistent Ethic of Life.
